Turkish authorities have arrested 304 people suspected of having links to the Islamic State group during a series of operations in 32 provinces, the Turkish Interior Minister said on Friday.
The majority of suspects were arrested in Turkey’s three largest cities, Ankara, Istanbul and Izmir. The Turkish Interior Ministry said the operation dubbed “Heroes-34” was carried out simultaneously across the country.
Authorities have stepped up operations against Islamic State in recent weeks. but also against the Kurds. On October 1, PKK militants detonated a bomb near government buildings in Ankara.
