US President Donald Trump says he wants to work with his Turkish counterpart to end the Russian war in Ukraine.

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, says that he had a “very good and productive” telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and they discussed a wide range of subjects, including how to end the Russian war in Ukraine, Syria and Israel at the war against Gaza.

During the call on Monday, Trump said that Erdogan had invited him to visit Turkiye and that he had extended an invitation to the Turkish chief to visit Washington, DC. No date has been announced.

Reading the Turkish presidency call confirmed that Erdogan invited Trump for a visit.

The republican president, who described his relationship with Erdogan as “excellent” during his first mandate at the White House, said that the two countries would cooperate by finishing the war in Ukraine.

“I can’t wait to work with President Erdogan to get the ridiculous but deadly end, the war between Russia and Ukraine ended – now!” Trump said his social media platform in an article on social media.

NATO member, Turkiye, has sought to maintain good relations with his two neighbors in the Black Sea since the Russian invasion of Ukraine and twice organized talks aimed at ending the war.

“Noting that he supports President Trump’s approach to end the wars, President Erdogan expressed his appreciation for the efforts exercised to maintain the negotiation process with Iran and arrest war between Russia and Ukraine,” Turkiye’s communications department said in a statement published on X.

Erdogan also raised the urgent need of a ceasefire in Gaza, warning that his humanitarian crisis had reached a “serious level,” said management.

The Turkish president also stressed the importance of “uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid and the urgent end of this tragic situation”.

On neighboring Syria, Erdogan reaffirmed Turkiye’s commitment to preserving its territorial integrity and restoring sustainable stability.

He said American efforts to alleviate sanctions against Syria and its new government would help advance this process and contribute to regional peace.

Regarding bilateral links, Erdogan said that Ankara has remained determined to strengthen cooperation with Washington, in particular in the defense sector.

Trump is expected to visit Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates next week.
