Informed sources revealed that US President Donald Trump offered 5 African presidents a plan to accept immigrants from third countries deported from the United States, in a move that raised questions about the legal and human dimensions of this proposal.

The presentation came during a meeting of Trump’s gathering with the leaders of Liberalia, Senegal, Guinea -Bissau, Mauritania and Gabon at the White House, where immigration and economic cooperation files were discussed, according to Reuters news agency reported by US and Liberian officials who refused to reveal their identity.

According to the sources, the American administration seeks to accelerate the deportations, especially in cases where it faces difficulties by returning immigrants to their original homelands, which leads them to search for alternative countries to receive them.

In a controversial precedent, 8 migrants from countries, including Cuba, Laos and Sudan, arrived in the capital, Juba, in southern Sudan, after losing a legal battle to prevent their deportation, which raised human rights concerns about their safety in a country suffering from security disturbances.

Although the Liberian government began preparing to receive some of the stage in the capital, Munrovia, the position of the rest of the countries is still unclear, in the absence of any official comment from the White House or the relevant governments.

Reports indicate that the US State Department directed an internal document to the five African countries, requesting approval to receive migrants in a “safe and generous” manner, and not returning them to their countries of origin until a final decision regarding their asylum requests in the United States.

In a public statement during the meeting, Trump said that he is seeking to transform the relationship with Africa from “aid to trade”, considering that the United States is a “partner better than China”, and he expressed his hope to reduce rates exceeding the period of visas and achieve progress in the “third safe state” agreements.
