Princess Elizabeth, the heir of the Belgian throne, is facing a disturbing possibility of her continued studies at Harvard University, after the administration of US President Donald Trump canceled the university’s ability to register foreign students last week.

The Trump administration obliged students currently enrolled either to move to other educational institutions or face the loss of their legal status in the United States.

“Princess Elizabeth has completed her first year, and the effect of the Trump administration’s decision will become more clear in the coming days and weeks,” said Laure Vandourne, a spokesman for the Royal Palace, adding that the Palace “is currently investigating the situation.”

For his part, the director of communications in the palace, Kazavier Bayrt, explained that “the matter is still under analysis, and we will wait until the upcoming developments are clear.”

Princess Elizabeth is 23 years old, and the Master of Harvard University is studying, a program that aims to qualify students for a professional life in public service.

The future queen of Belgium had previously obtained a certificate in history and politics from the University of Oxford.

The American decision is part of a broader campaign led by the Trump administration to reduce foreign students in American educational institutions, which raises concerns in both academic and diplomatic circles.

Last Secretary of Homeland Security, Christie Naim – Thursday – announced the cancellation of the student program and the exchange of visitors in Harvard, accusing the university of “inciting violence, anti -Semitism and coordination with the Communist Party of China”, following the escalation of student protests against the Israeli war on Gaza.

But Judge Alison Buroz of the Boston Partial Court stopped the implementation of the decision, considering that it represents a “flagrant violation” of the constitution and federal laws.

For its part, Harvard University said in its lawsuit against the Trump administration that the decision threatens to expel more than 7,000 foreign students, which undermines their academic career and harms the university’s identity as a global institution.
