From his bed in Ibn Sina Hospital in Jenin in the West Bank, the young Palestinian Mujahid Raed Abadi tells Tel Aviv Tribune the details of what happened to him when the Israeli occupation forces placed him on the front of a military vehicle and used him as a human shield during their withdrawal from Jenin.
Video clips showed the Palestinian young man – a resident of Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank – lying and tied on the hood of an Israeli military vehicle that was passing through one of the city’s streets.
The Israeli occupation army admitted that its soldiers tied a wounded Palestinian to the front hood of a military vehicle during a raid in the city of Jenin.
The young man (24 years old) says that he went out with his cousin to check what was happening after Israeli forces stormed the Jabriyat area in Jenin, and when they tried to return home, they were shot from all directions, wounding him in the hand, and his cousin was also injured.
He narrates that he hid behind a military jeep, but an Israeli sniper shot him in the thigh area, rendering him unable to move. He remained in the same position for a full hour, and after calls made by the occupation soldiers to people to leave the homes, he remained in his place, but they gave him the choice between leaving. Or death.
When he told the occupation soldiers that he was suffering from an injury to his leg and shoulder and could not move, they replied, “You will die.” They then came to the place where he was and asked him to get on the military vehicle, and he did so with difficulty because of his severe pain, as the young man says.
The occupation soldiers did not provide any aid to the young Palestinian man who was bleeding, and he says that they beat and tortured him continuously, especially in the affected areas. He confirmed that two soldiers carried him and kept moving him right and left until he fell to the ground, then they tied him to the military vehicle as a human shield, and the temperature was very high. On the vehicle hood.
He confirms that the occupation soldiers, after they tortured and abused him, asked him his name, and when it became clear to them that he was not being pursued or wanted, they handed him over to the Palestinian ambulance.
The occupation soldiers did not provide any explanation to the young Palestinian man about the reason for his arrest and abuse, nor did they interrogate him. Their main concern – as Ibn Jenin told Tel Aviv Tribune – was to beat, torture, and abuse him, and they did so while laughing.
The young man is currently suffering from bone fragmentation in his right shoulder and right foot, in addition to abrasions in his back as a result of being placed on the hood of a military vehicle at a very high temperature. Doctors also told him that his treatment period will be long.
He added that he cannot sleep because of what happened to him, and that he will not feel safe like all Palestinians do under the Israeli occupation.
