The Russian navy is strengthening with the “Krasnoyarsk” and the “Emperor Alexander III”. Eight other new submarines are expected to follow.
Traveling in the Far North this Monday, Vladimir Putin inaugurated two new nuclear submarines which should “increase the naval power” of Russia. THE “Krasnoyarsk” and the“Emperor Alexander III” were under construction for almost six years and represent the fourth generation of Russia’s nuclear-powered submarines. They will join the Pacific Fleet, based in the Far East.
_”__These formidable missile carriers, without equivalent in their category, are entering service within our navy._We will definitely implement all our plans to build submarines and surface ships. We will quantitatively strengthen the combat readiness of the Russian Navy and our naval power in the Arctic, the Far East. In the East, the Black Sea, the Baltic Sea and the Caspian Sea: the most important strategic areas of the world ocean” said Vladimir Putin after visiting the factory.
According to the Russian leader, 8 other similar submarines are in production. Since the start of the offensive in Ukraine, and in reaction to the military setbacks that Russian forces suffered there in 2022, Russia has begun to strengthen its army. In October, the Russian Parliament approved a surge in military spending and Vladimir Putin ordered in early December to increase the number of Russian soldiers by 15%.
