The World Food Program suspends aid distribution from the pier off Gaza News

The Director of the United Nations World Food Program, Cindy McCain, announced a temporary suspension of the distribution of humanitarian aid through the US floating pier off the coast of Gaza, due to security concerns.

During an interview with the American CBS network, McCain indicated that two of the organization’s warehouses in Gaza were bombed during the hostage-liberation operation, resulting in the injury of one of the employees.

She also explained that she was very concerned about the safety of employees after the incident, which she described as one of the bloodiest days of the war, and stressed that they wanted to ensure the availability of a safe environment and stable conditions before resuming operations.

However, the UN official stressed that work is continuing in the rest of the Gaza Strip, as they are making every effort in the north and south.

For its part, the US Agency for International Development announced that it is working with other US government officials and with humanitarian organizations in Gaza to ensure that aid can be resumed safely and effectively after the completion of the security review.

It should be noted that the construction of the American naval pier was completed in mid-May, and it worked for about a week before stopping due to damage caused by storms.

But it resumed work on Saturday after the repairs, the same day that Israel launched an intense air and ground attack in the Nuseirat camp to recover 4 of its prisoners.

Israel’s surprise attack in the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip resulted in the death of more than 270 Palestinians and the injury of hundreds.
