The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights has warned of a dangerous escalation in the killing of Palestinians and attacks on them from settlers and Israeli security forces in the occupied West Bank in recent weeks.
“The settlers and the Israeli security forces have intensified killings, attacks and harassment on the Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, during the past weeks,” said UNHCR spokesman for the Pharmacist of the Khaitan for reporters in Geneva.
About 30,000 Palestinians have been forcibly displaced in the occupied West Bank since the Israeli army launched the “Iron Wall” operation.
The Commission said that this process contributes to the consolidation of the continuous West Bank, to a violation of international law.
In June, the United Nations recorded the highest monthly number of Palestinians injured in the West Bank for more than two decades.
The Commission stated that since January 757 attacks from the settlers or their possessions, an increase of 13 percent over the same period last year.
She added that at least 964 Palestinians have been killed since October 20, 2023, by Israeli forces and settlers in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem. 53 Israelis were also killed in the West Bank and Israel in attacks by Palestinians or in armed clashes, which were reports.
