The UN supports Palestine’s candidacy: how did your country vote? | Israel’s War on Gaza News

The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) voted overwhelmingly in favor of the Palestinian attempt to become a full member of the UN by recognizing it as qualified for membership and recommending that the UN Security Council ” reconsider the matter favorably.”

Memberships can only be decided by the UN Security Council, and last month the United States vetoed an application for full membership.

The current resolution does not grant Palestinians full membership, but recognizes them as qualified to join, and it gives Palestine greater participation and certain rights within the UNGA.
