Nearly three million tourists are expected in Strasbourg for the end-of-year celebrations.

2.8 million people visited the European capital’s Christmas market last year.

A crucial but exhausting season for traders.

Despite the implementation of new measures, the authorities admit that the city physically cannot accommodate more visitors.

Furthermore, security has been reinforced since the deadly attack on the Strasbourg Christmas market in 2018.

For their part, many residents admit that they prefer to avoid the city center and move their activities to early in the morning, before the tourists wake up.

The metropolis of Strasbourg has 850,000 inhabitants and the city itself 300,000.
