The story of Hajja Hamdiya, who returned to her destroyed home in Jabalia because she had no shelter News

Palestinians, young and old, in the Gaza Strip are experiencing endless humanitarian tragedies. This is the case of Hajja Hamdiya Abu Samaan, who decided to return to her destroyed home in Jabalia, north of the Strip, to live there, because she had no place to shelter her, as she says.

Hajja Hamdiya lost 8 children and grandchildren during the recent Israeli military incursion into Jabalia, after the occupation army bombed their house while they were inside, with shells and bombs, as Hajja Hamdiyya told Tel Aviv Tribune on her way to her destroyed home.

She says that one of her children who were martyred was a doctor, and his wife, two of his daughters and two of his sons were martyred with him, in addition to his sister.

When asked: Where are you going, Hajja?, she responded by saying: “To my destroyed house, my brother.”

Hajja Hamdiya refers to her house, which she returned to after the Israeli withdrawal from Jabalia, and she says: “This is my home… and nothing remains for us… and no room remains safe.” However, she insists on staying in her destroyed home: “I want people to help me.” They bring me stones or give me a tent to live in, because I have no place to go and the occupation continues to bomb us.”

The Palestinian woman describes the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip as a war of extermination, destruction, devastation and a catastrophe. She says that she is 75 years old and that she has lived through all the episodes of the Israeli aggression, but she has never witnessed such a brutal war.

She adds: “What struck us is America… this is not the power of Israel, but the power of America.”

Civil Defense spokesman in the Gaza Strip, Mahmoud Basal, said that the Jabalia area is no longer suitable for living and habitation.

Since last October 7, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza with absolute American support, leaving a large toll of martyrs, wounded and missing, in addition to massive destruction and famine that claimed the lives of children and the elderly.
