The Qatar Olympic Committee confirmed its participation in the ongoing discussions with its international counterpart with the aim of hosting the Olympic and Barliya Games for the year 2036, as part of the new mechanism for choosing the host city.
The committee stated in an official statement, “This step comes to reflect the firm commitment of the State of Qatar to support the Olympic and Barbiya movement, and its keenness to contribute effectively to developing global sport, and enhancing its role in building bridges of communication and expanding the horizons of rapprochement and understanding between people Disclose division and stability. “
Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, Chairman of the Qatar Olympic Committee, Chairman of the candidacy file committee, stressed, “We believe in the strength of sports and their impact on bringing people and cultures, and enabling their members, and launching their human capabilities, especially young people, and our participation in the ongoing discussions reflects the hosting of the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2036 national vision that sees in sport a driver for development and a platform to enhance understanding and peace between peoples.”
“We have made sport an essential axis in our national strategy, and today we aspire to strengthen this role at the regional and international level by providing a new model that reflects the diversity of our region and celebrates its authentic human values,” Sheikh Joaan added.
He continued, “We have a ready -made mathematical structure to host the Olympics by 95%, and we have an integrated national plan that guarantees the readiness of all facilities by 100%, a plan based on a long -term vision aimed at building a sustainable social, economic and environmental heritage, not only our goal is to organize a successful championship, but also to provide a global experience that establishes the concepts of inclusion, sustainability and international cooperation.”
This step is consistent with the Qatar National Vision 2030, which puts human, societal and economic development at the heart of its priorities, as well as in line with the goals of the third national development strategy that emphasizes the importance of investment in sports and culture as tools to build vibrant societies, enhance active participation, and achieve social cohesion and sustainable welfare.
The State of Qatar has a record of successes in organizing major international sports events, as it hosted 18 world championships during the past 20 years, most notably the last version of the FIFA World Cup in 2022.
Qatar also hosted the 2015 World Handball Championship, World Athletics Championship 2019, World Water Games 2024 and World Table Tennis Championship 2025, in addition to hosting major multi -sports councils, most notably the 2006 Asian Games.
Doha is also preparing to host world championships such as the 2026 World Shooting Championship, the 2027 World Cup FIFA World Cup and the Asian Games in 2030.
The Qatar Olympic Committee emphasized that the perception presented to the organization of the Olympic and Paralympic Games is not only limited to the operational aspects, but also embodies a national vision that sees in sport a platform for empowering young people, transferring knowledge, promoting innovation and supporting environmental and social priorities, in line with the aspirations of the modern Olympic movement and the values of the state.
The committee pointed to the intensive consultations with local and regional partners as part of its efforts to host the Olympics, confirming the harmony between field readiness and long -term strategic vision.
She also explained that the candidacy process will go in the coming stages according to the highest standards and in close cooperation with the International Olympic Committee and the Paralympic Committee, to present an exceptional file to host the global event.
The committee emphasized that if the State of Qatar has the honor of the organization, it will be the first Olympic Games in the Middle East, which will allow the State of Qatar to present a unique Arab Olympic model based on diversity and openness, based on a sustainable legacy and the ability of sport to spread hope and peace, as well as enhance regional representation and highlight the energies of Arab youth.
