The most recent ambush of the Al-Qassam Brigades – the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) – in the city of Rafah sparked widespread interaction among activists on various social media platforms.
This ambush comes a month after the Israeli occupation army announced the elimination of the Rafah Brigade affiliated with Al-Qassam, and more than 4 months after the start of the Israeli invasion of the city, confirming that the Al-Qassam Brigades are still carrying out offensive operations against the occupation forces in the region.
The Brigades published a video clip documenting the targeting of a number of Israeli vehicles in this ambush, and the attack on the occupation forces in the Al-Tanour neighborhood, east of Rafah, a strategic location only about two kilometers from the Rafah crossing and the Philadelphia axis, and 3 kilometers from the separation fence.
The attention of observers was drawn by the appearance of an Israeli soldier riding an armored vehicle and taking pictures with his phone, seconds before the armored vehicle was targeted by a Yassin missile and exploded. The occupation army later announced that a soldier had been seriously injured in a battle in the southern Gaza Strip, on the same day the operation was carried out.
The 10-3-2024 episode of the “Shabakat” program reviewed the interaction of social media users with this event, as the tweeters agreed to describe the steadfastness of the fighters in Rafah as “legendary” and “terrible,” emphasizing the strength of the ongoing resistance strikes of the occupation army.
Resistance steadfastness
According to tweeter Khaled Abdullah, the resistance deserves salute and praise. He tweeted, “Rafah has been fighting for five months, with high combat efficiency and legendary steadfastness, and expects deaths and injuries in the enemy’s army despite all the brutality practiced by the entity’s army.”
Activist Dina Al-Sayyed supported Abdullah’s point of view, describing what happened as “successful strikes by resistance men, telling how the armored forces collapsed in a long war of attrition from which the enemy will reap nothing but loss and defeat.”
Tweeter Muhammad Khaled agreed with those who preceded him in his opinion and wrote, “These operations are in the context of legitimate resistance against the occupation, and express the legendary steadfastness of the Palestinian people in the face of the Israeli attacks to which they are exposed.”
The owner of the account, Tamer, did not deviate from the opinions of the tweeters and said, “The Rafah Brigade, which the Israeli occupation army announced was destroyed, is the one who films and implements these creative clips and embodies the terrible steadfastness.”
In subsequent developments, the Al-Qassam Brigades announced the implementation of two separate attacks yesterday. The first targeted a Merkava tank and two military bulldozers in the Al-Fokhari area, east of Khan Yunis, while the second targeted the occupation forces stationed in the Netzarim axis with rockets and heavy mortar shells.
