A Palestinian wearing his sandals confronted an Israeli military vehicle, sparking a reaction on social media platforms, after the occupation forces stormed the town of Anza, south of Jenin, in the northern occupied West Bank, killing a 37-year-old woman and arresting 35 Palestinians.

The Palestinian Shadi Dhabaya preferred to resist the occupation in his own and unprecedented way, as the Palestinians confronted the Israeli forces penetrating the West Bank camps and cities with the simplest methods and various means available.

A video clip of Dabaya – who is known in the Jenin camp as “Abu Ghadab” – spread, documenting him confronting one of the occupation’s vehicles with his sandals, ignoring the Israeli soldiers armed with the latest weapons.

“Abu Ghadab” is also known as “the camp guard,” and he is from a struggling family that gave many martyrs.

“The mighty people”

The video of “Abu Ghadab” confronting the occupation forces received wide views and received great interaction among Palestinians, some of whom were monitored by the “Shabakat” program in its episode on (9/26/2024).

In this context, Sonia commented on the video, saying, “He resists with flip flops… The proud soul does not accept submission and humiliation… They declare their rejection of the oppressive occupier with everything they have. Truly tyrannical people.”

Ali highlighted the strength and tenacity of the Palestinian people in resisting the occupier, saying, “This man resists with his shoes and without a weapon. What if he had the weapon, he would have finished with the occupation a long time ago… These men have a right and fight with bare chests.”

On the other hand, an account called “Honor of Life” described what happened as a skit, and said, “A ridiculous Israeli act… because (for) world opinion and the claim that soldiers deal with Palestinian citizens with humility and patience.”
