The Israeli army withdrew its forces – this Friday morning – from areas in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, while its incursion into eastern Deir al-Balah left widespread destruction.
Tel Aviv Tribune’s correspondent said that the occupation forces withdrew from these areas in Khan Yunis after a military operation that lasted 22 days.
The correspondent added that relief teams are working to retrieve the bodies of martyrs from the neighborhoods and streets that were included in the withdrawal.
According to Palestinian sources, among the areas from which the Israeli army withdrew were the Al-Mahta neighborhood and Street 5.
For its part, the Anatolia News Agency reported that the Israeli army had retreated to the eastern outskirts of the city, and quoted witnesses as saying that 10 bodies of martyrs had been recovered.
The agency also quoted witnesses as saying that the Israeli withdrawal revealed massive destruction in hundreds of residential buildings and infrastructure.
Khan Yunis has been subjected to intensive shelling for days, which has resulted in a large number of martyrs, in parallel with repeated incursions by the occupation forces into a number of its neighborhoods.
Martyrs and wounded
Meanwhile, during the morning hours, Israeli warplanes carried out air strikes and artillery shelling on various areas, from Jabalia in the north to Khan Yunis and Rafah in the south, passing through the center of the Strip.
Tel Aviv Tribune’s correspondent reported that 3 Palestinians were killed and others were injured in a bombing that targeted a house in the town of Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Yunis, at dawn.
In the northern Gaza Strip, Tel Aviv Tribune’s correspondent reported that two people, one of them a child, were killed and others, including women and children, were injured in an Israeli bombardment that targeted a residential apartment near the Al-Hawja intersection in Jabalia camp at dawn.

Ambulance teams transferred a number of the injured to Al-Awda Hospital in the camp, and 4 injured were transferred to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah due to the seriousness of their condition.

Great destruction
Meanwhile, video clips showed massive destruction in residential neighborhoods and infrastructure in the eastern areas of Deir al-Balah following the Israeli army’s withdrawal from the area.
After penetrating the area for days, the occupation army destroyed the Qastal neighborhood, residential towers, homes and infrastructure.
Over the course of days, the occupation forces carried out intensive shelling on the eastern neighborhoods of Deir al-Balah, and displaced tens of thousands of residents towards the city center, which now houses about one million people, according to local authorities.
According to the Deir al-Balah municipality, the Israeli displacement operations have displaced about 250,000 people and put 25 shelters out of operation.
The Palestinian resistance confronted the forces that penetrated the east of the city and inflicted casualties on them in the past few days.
Fierce battles
In the developments of the battles, the Al-Qassam Brigades – the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) – announced yesterday that it had targeted gatherings of occupation forces at the “Mars” military site east of Khan Yunis with 107-caliber missiles.
The Al-Qassam Brigades had engaged in fierce clashes in the central and southern Gaza Strip, and broadcasted images that it said showed a sniper operation to kill an occupation soldier in a building on the southern outskirts of the Al-Zeitoun neighborhood, southwest of Gaza City.
In contrast, the Israeli army said that its forces are continuing their military operations in various areas of the Gaza Strip, and spoke of killing dozens of militants in the areas of Rafah, Khan Yunis and the outskirts of Deir al-Balah.
The Israeli army also spoke about raids on sites in the central Gaza Strip and about its aircraft bombing about 40 targets, including military buildings, missile launching points and infrastructure.
