The Israeli occupation police fired sound bombs and tear gas at Palestinians in East Jerusalem, after preventing them from reaching Al-Aqsa Mosque to perform Friday prayers, amid tensions in Jenin after the occupation claimed that a Palestinian attempted to run over an Israeli female soldier.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said, in a statement, that its crews dealt with two injuries as a result of a police assault in Damascus Gate and Lions Gate in Jerusalem, and they were transferred to the hospital to receive treatment.

For the 11th Friday in a row since the beginning of the Israeli war on Gaza, the Israeli police are imposing severe restrictions that have prevented tens of thousands of people from reaching Al-Aqsa Mosque to perform prayers.

Tension and protest

This comes as two Palestinians were injured by Israeli occupation forces’ bullets in the village of Barta’a al-Sharqiya, southwest of the city of Jenin in the West Bank, following what the occupation forces said was an attempt to run over an Israeli female soldier.

The occupation forces stormed the village and began confiscating vehicles, claiming that they were illegal, and an attempt to run over the female soldier from a young man at the town’s intersection.

When the people protested, bullets were fired, wounding two Palestinians.

The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the female soldier was injured in a run-over accident at the Barta’a Junction, noting that the suspect was shot.

For their part, Palestinian media platforms published scenes of Israeli occupation forces shooting a Palestinian in the town of Barta’a.

For their part, eyewitnesses said that a fist fight took place between the Israeli forces and the Palestinians, during which the army forces fired live bullets, resulting in at least one Palestinian being injured.

Palestinians shared on social media video clips of the fight, shooting of Palestinians, and army forces storming the western and eastern towns of Barta’a.

Injuries and arrests

In parallel developments, the Palestinian Red Crescent reported that 3 Palestinians were injured by Israeli occupation bullets during confrontations that broke out with Palestinian youth after Israeli forces stormed the city of Halhul, north of Hebron in the West Bank, for the second time last night.

The occupation forces stormed the town of Surif, north of Hebron, before withdrawing from it.

According to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club, the number of Palestinian prisoners held by the occupation reached 7,800 at the end of last month, including more than 2,870 administrative detainees.

The Prisoners’ Club stated that the number of detainees in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem from the 7th of last October until the 21st of this month reached 4,655.
