The Israeli occupation forces dispersed a protest organized in front of the Orient House in Jerusalem by Palestinian figures on the 23rd anniversary of the death of Palestinian leader Faisal Al-Husseini.
No more than ten people participated in the protest, which was organized on Friday evening, but the Israeli police attacked them, tore up pictures of Faisal Al-Husseini, and forced the participants to leave the place, including the Arab representative in the Israeli Knesset, Ahmed Al-Tibi, and the head of the Islamic Christian Authority, Hatem Abdel Qader.
A live broadcast by Al-Tibi on his Facebook page shows police forces gathering in front of the protest, then attacking and dispersing the participants.

Al-Tibi said in a video clip circulating on social media platforms that friends of the late Faisal Al-Husseini organize an event every year to commemorate his death in front of Orient House.
He added: “What happened today is that dozens of members of the special police declared the gathering an illegal gathering, and that we were disrupting the order even though we were 10 people… Suddenly they started attacking us and accusing us of supporting terrorism.”
Faisal Al-Husseini is a Palestinian politician. He held several positions and responsibilities, most notably heading the negotiating team at the Madrid Peace Conference in 1993. He played a major role in the battle to defend Jerusalem, and handled its file in the Palestine Liberation Organization.
Al-Husseini died on May 31, 2001, in Kuwait, where he was going to end the rivalry between the Palestinian National Authority and the Kuwaiti government that arose due to the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait during the Gulf War.
As for the Orient House, Al-Husseini turned it into an official Palestinian headquarters, and his office there became a Palestinian symbol visited by the consuls of countries, their ambassadors, official visitors to Jerusalem from all over the world, and popular, official, and international media delegations. In it, preparations were made for the Madrid Conference, and it became the semi-official headquarters of the Palestine Liberation Organization, but the occupation decided to close it. On August 10, 2001, it is still closed.
