The Israeli army announced that an officer and a soldier were killed and 8 others were injured in an ambush by the Al-Qassam Brigades in the southern Gaza Strip yesterday. Israeli media also reported that 5 Israeli soldiers were transferred to Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, and the wounds of two of them were described as serious. Israeli Army Radio announced that two soldiers were seriously injured by an anti-tank missile in Rafah.
The Israeli army also announced the killing of two reserve soldiers in a mortar shell attack carried out by the Al-Qassam Brigades near the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood in Gaza City yesterday, Thursday.

The Israeli army announced the day before yesterday, Wednesday, that the number of its dead since the beginning of the war had reached 662 officers and soldiers, while the number of wounded had reached 3,866 soldiers since the beginning of the war, including 582 seriously injured, and 239 soldiers were still undergoing treatment after being injured in the Gaza battles.
Significant resistance operations
Al-Qassam announced that its fighters set up a precise ambush for an Israeli armored force by detonating a mine with a large explosive power, which was planted on the path of the Israeli force south of the Tal al-Sultan neighborhood, west of Rafah, after monitoring operations that continued for several days.
Al-Qassam Brigades added that its fighters detonated the mine in a Merkava tank the moment it passed by the place, which led to its complete destruction and the killing of its crew. The Al-Qassam Brigades indicated that the operations to transport the remains of the dead soldiers and the tank wreckage lasted several hours.
The Al-Qassam Brigades also announced the bombing of an Israeli command and control headquarters in the eastern Al-Zaytoun neighborhood of Gaza City, causing deaths and injuries. It said that its fighters had monitored the landing of Israeli army evacuation helicopters.
In the southern Gaza Strip, Al-Qassam announced that its fighters eliminated Israeli soldiers from zero distance after pursuing them inside the alleys of the Shaboura camp in the city of Rafah following a complex ambush there. Al-Qassam said that the Israeli soldiers were the crew of two Merkava tanks who fled after the two tanks were targeted with “Al-Yassin 105” missiles.
Al-Qassam also announced that its fighters had completed the complex ambush prepared in advance for Israeli army soldiers and vehicles in the Shaboura camp, and that its fighters were once again able to target two Israeli “Eitan” vehicles with “Al-Yassin 105” missiles.
For its part, the Al-Quds Brigades – the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement – said that it targeted an Israeli Merkava tank, and destroyed another tank with a high-explosive device in the Al-Shaboura neighborhood in Rafah.
There was no announcement about the occupation army’s losses in this ambush, but Israeli media reported a difficult event in Shaboura.
Earlier, the Al-Quds Brigades broadcast scenes that they said were of the bombing of settlements around the Gaza Strip with a missile salvo.
It claimed – in several statements – its responsibility for bombing a gathering of soldiers in the vicinity of Saad Mosque, east of the Zaytoun neighborhood in Gaza City, with mortar shells.
It also said that it bombed the command and control rooms on the supply line in the Netzarim axis, south of Gaza City, with a barrage of mortar shells.
For its part, the Israeli army said that the Nahal Brigade continues to fight in the Rafah area under the command of the 162nd Division. It added that during the past weeks, the Nahal forces carried out intelligence surveys and raids on what it called targets in the Rafah area. The army explained that it had detected, through an Israeli march, a tunnel opening inside a house and a corridor used by Hamas fighters in the middle of residential neighborhoods.
Israeli bombing
Tel Aviv Tribune’s correspondent said that the Israeli army bombed with artillery the northern areas of the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip. The correspondent reported that there was shooting from Israeli tanks on the eastern areas of the city of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip.
The occupation army also blew up residential buildings in the Saudi neighborhood, west of the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip. Al-Jalaa Street in Gaza City was subjected to Israeli artillery shelling.
The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip documented the death of 35 people and the injury of 130 others during the past 24 hours.
