The risk of starvation
In a related context, UN spokesman Stefan Dujarik said, “Secretary -General Antonio Guterres is concerned about the recent UN report that states that one in 5 people in Gaza face famine, while all the population faces high levels of acute food insecurity and the risk of famine.
Dujarric added at a press conference, that Guterres is very concerned that the vast majority of children in Gaza face severe food deprivation.
An international report, warned against confronting all Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, the danger of collective famine, with the expected that about half a million people would face a “catastrophic starvation”, the fifth and most severe stage in the classification of food insecurity.
The report “Integrated Classification of Food Security Stages”, which was attended by 17 United Nations humanitarian agencies and international NGOs, attributed the escalation of Israeli genocide, the continued closure of crossings and the prevention of food and medicine from entering the sector.
According to the report, at least 470,000 people in Gaza will face a “catastrophic hunger” (the fifth stage of the classification) between May and September 2025, an increase of 250 percent over previous estimates on November 19, 2024.
Israel continues the war of extermination of the Palestinians in Gaza after its damage to the ceasefire agreement concluded last January, and it is also prohibited to enter food and medicine since the second of last March, despite the international warnings of the growing risk of death.
Since the beginning of the war in October 2023, 52,862 Palestinians were killed and 119,648 were wounded, according to the data of the Ministry of Health in the sector, and most martyrs and wounded women and children.
