The occupation arrests 15 Palestinians in the West Bank, and Israeli officials demand the deployment of tanks news

The Israeli occupation army arrested 15 Palestinians, including a woman, and while the occupation’s incursions into various areas in the West Bank continued, Israeli army officials demanded that the forces deployed in the northern areas of the West Bank be provided with tanks.

Local Palestinian sources said that among the detainees was the family of a stalker whom the occupation forces claim was one of the perpetrators of the “hotel” operation, east of Qalqilya, on January 6, which resulted in the killing of 3 Israelis.

Eyewitnesses reported that an Israeli force surrounded a house in the town of Qabatiya, south of the city of Jenin, after storming it, amid intense military reinforcements. They pointed out that the Israeli forces fired bullets and shoulder-fired bombs towards the house.

The special Musta’ribin units stormed – in the early hours – the Kahlisha area in the town of Qabatiya, and besieged a house, before the occupation forces sent large reinforcements to the besieged house. They were deployed in the streets of the town, and snipers mounted the roofs of the buildings.

The town witnessed confrontations between Palestinian youths and Israeli forces, who used live bullets and gas bombs to disperse them.

A short while ago, sources told Tel Aviv Tribune that the occupation forces are detaining a number of Palestinians in the house of the Qassami martyr, Jaafar Dababsa, in Talluza, north of Nablus.

March suppression

On the other hand, Palestinians suffered from suffocation after the Israeli occupation forces suppressed an anti-settlement march in Beita, south of Nablus.

Local sources reported that the occupation forces fired tear gas at the weekly march that started from the vicinity of Jabal Subeih, in the town of Beita.

Dozens of citizens participated in the march that began after performing Friday prayers to denounce the Israeli occupation’s seizure of tens of dunams, and its legalization of the “Avitar” settlement outpost, established on the lands of Jabal Subeih in the towns of Beita, Qabalan, and Yatma, south of Nablus.

In this context, Israeli settlers burned – at dawn on Friday – a Palestinian “izbah” in the town of Abu Falah, east of the city of Ramallah, and wrote racist slogans, including “Death to the Arabs” and “Revenge.”

Intrusions and investigations

On a related level, the Israeli army carried out a campaign of raids in various areas in the occupied West Bank, which included raiding homes, arresting dozens of Palestinians for several hours, and interrogating them on the ground.

In the village of Deir Istiya, northwest of Salfit, Israeli forces stormed the town in large numbers, searched homes and destroyed the contents of some of them in the Al-Shaab area, according to eyewitnesses.

The witnesses stated that the Israeli army forces gathered dozens of young men in a square after handcuffing them, and began field investigations with them, before releasing them.

In Qalqilya, the Israeli army stormed the villages of Hajjah and Deir al-Hatab, east of the city, while firing sound bombs and tear gas at citizens’ homes, without reporting any injuries or arrests, according to the Palestinian News Agency (Wafa).

In Bethlehem, Israeli forces stormed the village of Husan, west of the city, and were stationed in the vicinity of the village council and the stadium, without any house raids or arrests being reported, according to the same agency.

Other forces also stormed the town of Al-Khader, south of Bethlehem, and were stationed in the areas of the Gate and the Grand Mosque, and fired stun grenades and tear gas towards homes and shops, but no casualties were reported, according to Wafa.

The Palestinian Agency also reported that the occupation forces stormed the town of Ni’lin, west of the city of Ramallah, in the central West Bank, with several military vehicles, and seized two vehicles before withdrawing, without any arrests or injuries reported.

Tanks in the West Bank

Meanwhile, the newspaper “Israel Today” revealed that a number of senior officials in the Israeli army demanded that the forces deployed in areas of the northern West Bank be provided with tanks.

The leaders based their request on the fact that there is information indicating that armed cells in the northern West Bank have become equipped with weapons that break what they called the military balance, such as RPG missiles.

The same sources revealed that the security establishment rejected these officers’ request, due to the ongoing fighting in the Gaza Strip and the security conditions in the north.

Senior officers in the Israeli army expressed their belief that the time has come to end the policy of relative containment in the West Bank, and that the army must act more aggressively there, even if that comes at the expense of stopping the Palestinian Authority’s attempts to extend its security control in the Jenin camp, while army leaders believe that The Palestinian Authority must be allowed to complete the operation in Jenin, since it is achieving some achievements, as they put it.

In parallel with the genocide in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, the Israeli army expanded its operations, and settlers escalated their attacks in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, which resulted in the martyrdom of 847 Palestinians, the injury of about 6,700, and the arrest of 14,300. According to official Palestinian data.

While the Israeli genocide in Gaza left more than 155,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that killed dozens of children and the elderly, in one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world.
