The Israeli “Wala” website reported that the occupation army had raised its alert against the backdrop of warnings of martyrdom operations ahead of the holidays and in light of the pressure exerted on the West Bank.
The website, which is close to decision-making circles in Israel, indicated that the occupation army worked in the last hours to carry out arrests in several Palestinian cities: Ramallah, Al-Bireh, Nablus, Hebron, Qalqilya, Tulkarm, Kifl Haris in the Salfit area, Qalandiya, and the village of Anin near Jenin.
The occupation army will increase the number of its soldiers at friction points, central axes, and settlements, according to what the website stated.
It is noteworthy that an unsuccessful martyrdom operation took place last August when a backpack exploded before its bearer arrived at the bombing site.
The Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades – the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) – adopted the operation, in conjunction with the Al-Quds Brigades – the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement – stressing that martyrdom operations inside the occupied territories will return as long as the occupation massacres and the policy of assassinations continue.
About two weeks ago, Al-Qassam broadcast a tape entitled “You will be drowned by a flood of martyrdoms,” in which the will of the perpetrator of the operation, called Jaafar Mona, appeared. At the end of the tape, a young man appeared, with his features hidden, vowing to carry out an operation inside Israel.
The readings of Israeli analysts agree that the Palestinian resistance factions, in light of the continuing war on the Gaza Strip, are seeking to unify the arenas in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and to lead to a comprehensive escalation in the West Bank by returning to martyrdom and bombing operations inside Israeli cities.
