The Israeli army announced that its forces destroyed what it said was an apartment for the head of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the Gaza Strip, Yahya Sinwar, and part of a network of tunnels underneath.

The occupation army said in a statement that “the forces of the 14th Reserve Brigade, under the command of its 162nd Division, destroyed one of Al-Sinwar’s residential apartments and part of a long, branching network of tunnels beneath it near Gaza City.”

The Israeli army claimed that the apartment “was used by Sinwar as a hideout, and that the Yahalom unit (special forces from the Israeli combat engineering corps) discovered the opening of a strategic tunnel underneath it, which they said was used as a headquarters for senior figures from the military and political wings of the Hamas movement.”

According to the Israeli army’s statement, the “bunker” was found and destroyed in recent weeks.

The statement explained that the Israeli soldiers found the entrance to a tunnel in the basement of the house, and the tunnel led to underground passages 20 meters deep and 218 meters long, according to that story.

Sinwar still arouses the concerns of Israel, which considers him primarily responsible for the “Al-Aqsa Flood” battle last October 7, when the resistance launched a land, sea and air attack on settlements in the Gaza Strip, which led to the killing of about 1,400 Israelis and the capture of about 250 others, including high-ranking military personnel. High.

This is not the first time that the occupation army has announced its arrival at Sinwar’s home. After several weeks of ground incursion into the Gaza Strip and a continuous search for the head of Hamas, the Israeli army said a few days ago that its forces arrived at Sinwar’s home, but found nothing inside except a doll and a shoe.

Since last October 7, Israel has been waging a war on Gaza that has left, to date, 21,507 martyrs and 55,915 injured – the majority of whom are children and women – in addition to massive destruction in residential neighborhoods, infrastructure, and hospitals.
