At the end of this anxious year for Europe, we invite you to see it through the eyes of novelists. The European Union is not just a matter for constitutionalists and approved historians: it also inspires the authors of thrillers, comedies and historical frescoes. This offbeat vision allows us to see European news from another angle and to put the laughers, the dreamers and the thrill-seekers on the side of Europe… and in the process to make it a little less austere, more embodied and exciting.
