The Audiencia Nacional (National Court) opened the oral trial of Luis Rubiales on Wednesday afternoon. The former president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation will have to explain the non-consensual kiss he gave to Jenni Hermoso during the World Cup victory celebration in Sydney on August 20.

The judge also made this decision based on the actions Rubiales committed after the aforementioned events. He is charged with a possible crime of coercion for allegedly pressuring Jenni Hermoso to speak out in her defense.

In addition, the Court gave him 24 hours to post bail of 65,000 euros. Rubiales could be convicted of sexual assault. The president of central court number one thus responded to the request of the public prosecutor and the player herself.
