On the 97th day of the Israeli aggression on Gaza, attention turned to The Hague, where the International Court of Justice began its first session, regarding the lawsuit filed by South Africa against Israel for committing genocide.
While the Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that the occupation had committed 10 new massacres in the Strip within 24 hours, killing 112 martyrs and wounding 194 others, the occupation forces intensified their bombing of the central and southern regions of Gaza, while the resistance continued to carry out ambushes and direct strikes at the invading forces.
The death toll rises
The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced a new toll of victims of the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Strip. Ashraf Al-Qudra, the ministry’s spokesman, said – in a press conference in the city of Rafah – that the toll of the aggression rose to 23,469 martyrs and more than 59,600 injured.
He pointed out that 6,200 of the wounded urgently need to leave the Gaza Strip to receive treatment.
He stressed that “the Israeli occupation committed 10 massacres during the past 24 hours, resulting in 112 martyrs and 194 wounded.”
Rising tension on the Lebanon front
The Lebanese Hezbollah announced that it bombed Kiryat Shmona with dozens of missiles in response to the Israeli attacks, which today killed paramedics in a health authority affiliated with the party.
Hezbollah said – on Thursday evening – that it targeted a gathering of Israeli soldiers at the Tal Shaar site with missile weapons and achieved direct hits. It also targeted with missiles Israeli enemy soldiers in the vicinity of the Birkat Risha site and caused deaths and injuries among their ranks, according to the party.
On the other hand, Israeli media reported that 30 rockets and shells were fired from Lebanon towards towns in the Upper Galilee, including Kiryat Shmona.
Since Thursday morning, the party announced a series of operations against Israeli positions and concentrations of soldiers, which it said left dead and wounded.
Israel is being tried by “international justice”
Today, the International Court of Justice adjourned its first session after hearing South Africa’s case against Israel on charges of committing genocide against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The president of the court, American Judge Joan Donoghue, read out a list of procedural issues that the court will consider in considering the case, with the participation of two judges from South Africa and Israel, in order to ensure integrity and transparency, as she put it.
South Africa calls on Israel to immediately stop its military operations in the Gaza Strip, presenting a set of indicators regarding these operations and how they amount to genocide.
The South African legal team said that Israel has intensified its crimes against the Palestinians since 1948, and that it is subjecting the Palestinians to an apartheid regime, adding that the international community has failed to prevent genocide in Gaza.
Houthi feast to Washington
The leader of the Ansar Allah group (Houthis), Abdul Malik al-Houthi, said that any American attack on the group’s members in the Red Sea will not remain without a response, stressing that the position of Washington and London will not prevent the group from continuing to stop Israeli crimes, as he put it.
He added that any such response would be greater than the recent response, in which the group’s drones and missiles targeted an American ship in the Red Sea.
He went on to say, “We are more determined to target ships linked to Israel, and we will not back down from that.”
The Houthi group had previously vowed that any American coalition in the Red Sea would not provide security for Israeli ships.
Blinken in Cairo
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken arrived – Thursday – in the Egyptian capital to hold talks with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi about the repercussions of the Gaza war, in his last stop on his tour of the region, aimed at what was called preventing the expansion of the war.
Blinken stressed during his discussions with Sisi that the United States is committed to working to establish a Palestinian state, reiterating his rejection of the raised Israeli plans and attempts to displace Palestinians from Gaza.
Earlier, the American minister said that he was discussing with Doha and Cairo ways to conclude a deal between the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Israel, especially after their efforts to reach a temporary truce last November 24, which lasted a week.
Blinken visited several countries in the region before his visit to Israel, including Qatar, Turkey, Greece, the Emirates and Saudi Arabia, and he also met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the West Bank.
West Bank incursions continue
Tel Aviv Tribune’s correspondent said that the Israeli occupation forces stormed the eastern neighborhood of the city of Jenin amid sirens that sounded in the city and its camp.
The reporter explained that the occupation forces also stormed the town of Beitunia, west of Ramallah, in the central West Bank, and the city of Qalqilya, north of it.
The raids included the Dheisheh camp in the city of Bethlehem, which witnessed the occupation forces raiding the homes of a number of citizens.
The Security Council condemns the Houthis
The UN Security Council adopted a US draft resolution condemning the Houthi attacks on ships in the Red Sea, and demanding an immediate end to these attacks.
Tel Aviv Tribune’s correspondent pointed out that the Security Council resolution indicates the need to protect the security of maritime navigation.
The leader of the Houthi group, Muhammad Ali Al-Houthi, considered the Security Council’s resolution a “political game,” and wrote on the “X” platform that “the United States is the one violating international law.”
