Day 217 of the Israeli aggression on Gaza witnessed remarkable developments, the most prominent of which was the targeting of the Palestinian resistance Beersheba with two batches of missiles for the first time since last December. In New York, the United Nations General Assembly voted in favor of a draft resolution recommending that the Security Council reconsider the membership of the State of Palestine in a way that positive.

On the ground, the Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that the death toll from the Israeli aggression had risen to 34,934 martyrs, and the resistance broadcast new scenes of battles in Gaza and the targeting of members of the occupation forces.

Regarding the ceasefire agreement and the exchange deal, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) confirmed that Israel’s attack on Rafah and its rejection of the proposal that the movement had agreed to earlier confirms the occupation’s evasion of reaching an agreement and returns matters to square one.

Targeting Beersheba

The Al-Qassam Brigades – the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) – announced the bombing of the city of Beersheba with two rockets in response to the massacres against civilians.

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation said that Beersheba was subjected to 15 missiles fired from Rafah, and the bombing, according to Israeli media, led to injuries among Israelis and damage to buildings.

Less than two hours after the first attack, the Al-Qassam Brigades announced the bombing of Badr al-Saba again with a missile salvo. Israeli Channel 14 said that Hamas is firing rockets at Israel with the same force as it was in the first weeks of the war.

Resistance operations

On the axes of the incursion into the Gaza Strip, especially in Rafah, Tel Aviv Tribune obtained scenes of fierce battles between the Al-Qassam Brigades and the Israeli army east of Rafah, and the scenes show Al-Qassam members targeting Israeli forces barricaded in homes and Israeli tanks that penetrated east of Rafah.

The Al-Qassam Brigades also published scenes showing one of its fighters sniping an Israeli soldier south of the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood in Gaza City.

The Al-Quds Brigades – the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement – said that its fighters bombarded enemy soldiers and vehicles with mortar shells penetrating east of the city of Rafah. It also announced its control of a Skylark drone in Rafah.

On the other hand, the Israeli army announced that 4 of its soldiers were killed and two others were seriously injured in battles in the northern Gaza Strip. It explained that the four soldiers were from the Nahal unit and were killed as a result of the detonation of an explosive device in the northern Gaza Strip.

Soroka Hospital in Israel also announced that it had received four wounded soldiers from the Israeli army, who were transported to it by helicopter and ambulance. The hospital said that the condition of two of the soldiers was critical and the injuries of the others were minor.

Saving a prisoner from suicide

The Al-Qassam Brigades announced the rescue of an Israeli prisoner a few days ago in the last moments after he attempted to commit suicide where he was captured.

Al-Qassam held the enemy and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu personally fully responsible for the deterioration of the physical and psychological health of some of the prisoners. It also broadcast an expressive image asking the words of the Israeli prisoners: Why are we left here?

According to reports, Al-Qassam and other resistance factions are still holding about 133 Israeli prisoners in the Gaza Strip, and insist on securing and keeping them until they are exchanged for Palestinian prisoners in the occupation prisons.

The fate of the negotiations

The Israeli mini-cabinet agreed to expand the Israeli army’s area of operations in Rafah, according to the American website Axios, which quoted informed sources as saying that the decision could be interpreted by Washington as crossing President Joe Biden’s red line.

In response, the Hamas movement said that Israel’s rejection of the ceasefire agreement proposal presented by the mediators returned matters to square one, and it added in a statement that Israel’s attack on Rafah and the occupation of the crossing immediately after Hamas announced its approval of the mediators’ proposal, confirms that the occupation is evading reaching an agreement. .

Hamas confirmed that Netanyahu and his government are using the negotiations as a cover to attack Rafah, occupy the crossing, and continue the war of extermination in Gaza, and warned that the movement’s leadership will hold consultations with the Palestinian resistance factions in order to reconsider the negotiation strategy.

Palestine and the United Nations

The United Nations General Assembly voted in favor of a draft resolution recommending that the UN Security Council positively reconsider the membership of the State of Palestine.

The resolution stipulated that Palestine is a peace-loving state that is willing to implement its obligations in the United Nations Charter, and therefore it should be accepted as a member of the United Nations. The resolution also stipulates strengthening the rights and privileges of the State of Palestine in the United Nations without allowing it to vote in the General Assembly.

The United Nations General Assembly voted by a majority of one hundred and forty-three votes in support of the draft resolution, which angered Israel, as Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz described it as a “ridiculous resolution” and said that it amounted to a prize for Hamas, while Israel’s representative to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, tore up the United Nations Charter. In turn, the United Nations Office for Humanitarian Affairs confirmed that the closure of the Rafah crossing affects the supply of fuel, aid, and population movements, while UNICEF said it expects that food stocks in the southern Gaza Strip will run out within days, calling for preventing the death of children.

In the West Bank, the Israeli occupation forces stormed the town of Al-Samou, south of Hebron, and Al-Jazeera’s correspondent said that extremist settlers attacked farmers in the town of Ni’lin, west of Ramallah. The Israeli occupation forces also imposed a curfew on the town of Derastiya, northwest of Salafi.

Following an attack launched by Israeli extremists on the UNRWA headquarters in East Jerusalem, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed his condemnation of the attacks, while European Union foreign policy chief Joseph Borrell called for the perpetrators to be held accountable and held Israel responsible for the safety of humanitarian workers.
