The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced on Monday morning that the director of ambulance and emergency services in the Strip, Hani Al-Jaafrawi, was martyred in an Israeli bombing as part of the war that has been ongoing for 9 months.

In a statement, the Ministry mourned the martyr Al-Jaafrawi, who was a model of sacrifice, steadfastness and determination along with his fellow paramedics in performing their humanitarian duty of evacuating the wounded and martyrs around the clock, despite the Israeli bombing and threat that ignores international conventions and treaties.

The Ministry renewed its call on the international community and UN and human rights institutions to stop the Israeli aggression and protect the health system and its personnel, stressing the necessity of prosecuting Israel for the crimes of genocide against the Palestinian people and the killing of health and humanitarian personnel.

The Ministry of Health’s statement did not include details about the circumstances of Al-Jaafrawi’s martyrdom, but the Palestinian News Agency (Wafa) quoted medical sources that Al-Jaafrawi was killed in an Israeli aircraft bombing the Al-Daraj Medical Clinic in central Gaza City.

The Civil Defense Service in Gaza announced last night that its crews recovered the bodies of two Palestinians working in the Ministry of Health, while others were injured as a result of the bombing of that clinic.

So far, no official Israeli statement has been issued on this subject.

28 Palestinians were killed

In a related context, the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced the death of 28 Palestinians and the injury of 66 others during the past 24 hours as a result of the ongoing Israeli bombing.

Thus, the death toll of the aggression since the seventh of last October rose to 37,626 martyrs and 86,098 injured.

For his part, Tel Aviv Tribune’s correspondent said that the occupation forces are blowing up a number of homes in the center of the city of Rafah, noting that Israeli military helicopters are launching raids on areas west of the city.

The reporter added that the bodies of 4 martyrs arrived at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah after the bombing of homes east of the Bureij camp.

The reporter also reported that a Palestinian was martyred and a number of others were injured in an artillery shelling that targeted the northern areas of the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.

For its part, the Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement, announced that its fighters bombed with heavy-caliber mortar shells the soldiers and vehicles of the Israeli occupation army penetrating behind the Al-Masry Tower, south of Rafah.

Residents of the city of Rafah also indicated yesterday, Sunday, that Israeli tanks advanced to the outskirts of the Al-Mawasi area, which includes tents for the displaced, northwest of the city, forcing many families to flee north to Khan Yunis and Deir Al-Balah in central Gaza.

With American support, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, resulting in more than 123,000 Palestinians killed and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing.
