The Nasser Medical Complex announced the death of Dr. Hamdi Al -Najjar, the father of the nine children who were martyred in an air strike that targeted the family home in Khan Yunis about a week ago, according to Al -Jazeera correspondent Hani Al -Shaer.
The details of the tragedy reveal a painful story, as the doctor Alaa – the wife of Dr. Hamdi Al -Najjar – was at the head of her work in the Nasser Medical Complex when the air strike fell on her home on May 23.
The doctor welcomed nine of her children charred due to an air strike targeting her home, while her husband, Dr. Hamdi, had critical injuries alongside their only surviving child Adam, who was also critical injuries.
The Director General of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Dr. Munir Al -Barash, had narrated the details of the tragedy, saying, “Dr. Alaa has 10 children, the oldest of whom did not exceed 12 years. On the morning of the tragedy, she went out with her husband, Dr. Hamdi Al -Najjar, to reach her work, and just minutes after his return, an Israeli missile fell to their home.”
He added through his account on the X platform: “Nine of their children were martyred: Yahya, Rakan, Raslan, Gibran, Yves, Rivan, Sidin, Luqman, and Sidra.
Military situation
In the broader military context, the correspondent reported that the Khuza’a and Najjar area, south of Khan Yunis – where the tragedy of the Najjar family – is still witnessing a land operation that expanded in the past few hours and days, on the impact of extensive air strikes and artillery shelling targeting dozens of remaining residential houses.
The poet explained that this expansion in the land operation comes in conjunction with an expansion also within the scope of land operations in the European Hospital area, which is located at the end or within the borders of the Al -Fakhari area and at the end of the Al -Manara neighborhood.
The expansion extended to other neighboring areas witnessing wild operations, artillery shelling, homes and air strikes, according to the correspondent.
The poet pointed out that the occupation forces continued the methodological demolitions, as they demolished a few hours ago houses for the third time and detonated residential facilities.
He pointed out that an air shelling affected the western region of Khan Yunis, as part of the continuous destruction campaign of the city’s residential structure.
