Move follows the campaign accusing Maersk of links with the army and the occupation of the Palestinian lands in Israel.
Maersk will reduce links with companies linked to the illegal Israeli colonies on the occupied West Bank, said the Danish navigation giant.
The decision follows the press of several months of activists on Maersk on issues related to Palestine.
His expeditions were examined as part of an international campaign led by the Palestinian Youth Movement (Pym), a basic organization. The group focused mainly on the maersk expeditions of American foreign military sales, but Pym has also sought the transport of goods of companies linked to the colonies.
A declaration on the Maersk website, dated June 2025, said: “Following a recent transportation examination related to the West Bank, we have further strengthened our screening procedures for Israeli establishments, in particular by aligning our screening process with the OHChch database of companies involved in establishments.”
The United Nations Human Rights Office Database (OHCHR) includes companies involved in various activities related to the colonies, such as the provision of services, equipment or financial operations that support illegal regulations.
When asked more details on his decision, Maersk pointed to Tel Aviv Tribune to the declaration on his website. We do not know who or how many Maersk companies had links.
Israel has built more than 100 colonies through the occupied West Bank which houses some 500,000 settlers. These colonies, illegal under international law, range from small outposts to the greatest communities with modern infrastructure.
“This sends a clear message to the world maritime transport industry: respect for international law and fundamental human rights is not optional. Having business with illegal establishments in Israel is no longer viable, and the world looks to see who follows then,” said Aisha Nizar de Pym.
But it called for additional action, arguing that Maersk still transports goods for the Israeli army, including components of its F-35 fighter planes.
“Maersk continues to take advantage of the genocide of our people – regularly shipping F -35 components used to bomb and massacre the Palestinians,” said Nizar. “We will continue to build pressure and mobilize the power of people until Maersk cuts all links with the genocide and ends the transport of weapons and weapons components in Israel.”
Last year, Spain prohibited Maersk ships carrying military goods in Israel from using its ports.
Earlier this month, Pym revealed how Maersk used the port of Rotterdam as an essential link in what he called a “death supply chain”.
Despite a Dutch court decision that prohibited the Netherlands from exporting F-35 parties to Israel, Rotterdam has always played a role in Israel’s F-35 program, the report said.
In response to these conclusions, Maersk told Tel Aviv Tribune that he confirms a strict policy not to send weapons or ammunition to active conflict zones and that it leads to reasonable diligence, in particular in the regions affected by active conflicts, including Israel and Gaza, and adapts this reasonable diligence to the changing context.
However, he confirmed that its American subsidiary, Maersk Line Limited, was one of the “many companies supporting the F-35 global supply chain” with transport services.
