Today, Tuesday, the Kremlin expressed his regret for what he described as a “slowdown” and the pace of normalization of relations with the United States, despite the positive intentions of US President Donald Trump since his return to the White House.
The Kremlin pointed out that this slowdown coincided with Washington’s position towards Moscow, which has become more striking in light of the failure of talks on the ongoing war in Ukraine.
“There has been a slowdown,” Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
These statements came after Trump announced a “new deadline” of Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine, which started more than 3 years ago.
“We took note of President Trump’s statement yesterday,” Peskov said, “We stressed at the same time that” the private military operation is still ongoing. “
He stressed that Moscow “is still committed to a peace process to resolve the conflict over Ukraine, while preserving our strategic interests.”
Trump had previously stated that he would press for a rapid agreement that ends the war in Ukraine, without clarifying the nature of the mechanisms or concessions expected from both sides.
