Two employees of the Israeli embassy were killed in a shooting near an event at the Jewish Museum in Washington yesterday evening (local time) in an accident classified by US President Donald Trump as part of “anti -Semitism”.
The two employees, a man and a woman, were shot and died in an area close to the museum, which was hosting a reception for young diplomats organized by the American Jewish Committee.
The Washington Police said that the shooter, Elias Rodriguez of Chicago, is 30 years old, and made it clear that his record is devoid of any known precedents that make him monitoring by law enforcement devices.
The mayor of Washington confirmed that the FBI was leading investigations into this incident, while Washington police leader Pamela Smith said that the shooter cried “freedom for Palestine” while arresting him after the attack, confirming that “any intelligence information about a terrorist act or a hate crime in the city.”

The American President published a condolence to my two families, and said through the Truth Social platform, “The shooting is attributed to anti -Semitism … The horrific murders in Washington must immediately end, which were undoubtedly built on anti -Semitism … There is no place for hatred and extremism in the United States and it is sad for such matters.”
The reactions to the incident continued, as the United Nations representative to the United Nations described the shooting as “a anti -Semitic terrorist act.”
Danone wrote on X, “Harming diplomats and the Jewish community goes beyond the red line. We are confident that the American authorities will take strict measures against those responsible for this criminal act,” Danone wrote on X.
Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog said that the incident “reflects hatred and anti -Semitism that killed employees of the Israeli embassy.”
US Secretary of State Mark Rubio described what happened as a “shameful act of cowardly violence and anti -Semitic” and pledged to pursue the person in charge of the accident and bring them to justice.
For his part, the Israeli Foreign Minister Gazaoun Saar said that the representatives of Israel “always in danger, especially during this period, are at an increasing danger.”
