The battles between the Palestinian resistance and the Israeli occupation forces in the city and camp of Jenin entered their third day, and while the Israeli army continued its nightly arrest campaigns in the West Bank, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) described the year 2023 as the “bloodiest” in the West Bank.

At dawn on Thursday, 3 young Palestinians were martyred as a result of an Israeli bombing that targeted the eastern neighborhood of the city of Jenin, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent.

The Red Crescent said that the Israeli bombing also resulted in the injury of 6 other young men, the wounds of 3 of whom were described as serious.

This brings the number of martyrs who fell in the city of Jenin since the start of the Israeli military operation in the city to 11.

Meanwhile, Tel Aviv Tribune’s correspondent reported that the occupation forces brought reinforcements and additional vehicles to the vicinity of the eastern neighborhood amid an escalation in the intensity of clashes with resistance fighters from the city.

The reporter said that clashes broke out between resistance fighters and occupation forces in the town of Rummana, west of Jenin.

A video clip showed the resistance being able to detonate an explosive device in a military vehicle belonging to the occupation forces during their storming of the city of Jenin.

Palestinian condemnation

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) said that the military operation carried out by the Israeli occupation army since dawn last Tuesday is an extension of the comprehensive war that the occupation government is waging against our Palestinian people everywhere, in a desperate attempt to extinguish the flame of resistance that is spreading in the spirit of our heroic Palestinian people.

Hamas called on the Palestinian masses in the West Bank to escalate resistance in all cities and villages until the occupation is defeated from the land of Palestine and its Islamic and Christian sanctities.

For its part, the Islamic Jihad movement said that the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation in the camps and cities of the West Bank, and the continuation of massacres, especially in the Jenin camp, are a desperate attempt to compensate for its losses in the land of Gaza, which weakened the occupation army and its soldiers and left them dead and wounded.

The Jihad movement confirmed that the resistance march is continuing to combat the enemy, and that the resistance fighters in Gaza and Jenin are continuing the open confrontation against the occupation.

Continuous arrests

In a related context, Tel Aviv Tribune’s correspondent said that the occupation forces carried out a massive campaign of raids and incursions on Thursday morning, targeting several cities and towns in the West Bank.

He added that the Israeli army stormed at dawn on Thursday morning the villages of Qabatiya, Rummana, Zababdeh, Silat al-Harithiya, and al-Yamoun in the Jenin district in the northern West Bank, and launched a series of arrests among citizens.

The occupation also arrested 30 Palestinians in the village of Talfit, south of Nablus, and raided homes in the town of Beit Iba, northwest of Nablus, and arrested two young men.

The death toll of Palestinian martyrs in the West Bank continues to rise as a result of the Israeli army carrying out daily raids and incursions into villages and towns in the West Bank and Jerusalem, since last October 7, accompanied by confrontations and the firing of bullets and gas bombs, during which about 3,792 Palestinians were arrested, according to the latest statistics from institutions specialized in prisoner affairs.

The deadliest

In turn, UNRWA described the year 2023 as the “bloodiest” year in the West Bank since the United Nations began recording and documenting the number of victims of the practices of the Israeli occupation army and settlers in the West Bank in 2005.

This came in a report revealing the humanitarian conditions in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip, with more than two months having passed since the outbreak of the Israeli war on the Strip, and the escalation of the intensity of raids and arrests carried out by Israeli forces in the West Bank.

UNRWA said that 2023 is the bloodiest year for Palestinian deaths in the West Bank, as 271 were martyred at the hands of Israeli forces, including 69 children, in addition to 8 Palestinians martyred at the hands of Israeli settlers.

It also indicated the martyrdom of two other Palestinians, but without knowing who was responsible for their deaths, whether they were from the “Israeli army or settlers,” according to the statement.
