The Israeli official Broadcasting Authority – Saturday – suggested that the Israeli National Security Minister Intar bin Ghafir submit his resignation from the coalition government if an agreement was signed on Gaza with the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
The commission stated that there is a crisis in the ruling coalition in Israel, against the background of the ongoing negotiations with Hamas in Qatar.
She stated that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu – wanted by the International Criminal Court for the commission of crimes against humanity in Gaza – will hold a special session (whose date has not been determined) with the Minister of Finance in Salail Smotrich, so that the ruling coalition in Tel Aviv does not dismantle.
The authority expected Bin Ghafir to resign from the coalition if the agreement was signed with Hamas.
On the other hand, the 14 Israeli channel quoted those close to Netanyahu that Smotrich may not leave the government if he moves forward.
The Qatari capital, Doha, is currently witnessing a new round of indirect negotiations between the delegation of Hamas and Israel, with an Egyptian Qatari mediation, with the participation of American, with the aim of reaching a new ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement.
Over the course of about 20 months, several rounds of indirect negotiations were held between Israel and Hamas, on stopping the war and the exchange of prisoners, by its leaders, Egypt, Qatar and the United States.
During this period, two ceasefire agreements were reached, the first in November 2023, and the second in January 2025, and witnessed partial agreements to exchange numbers of prisoners.
Netanyahu escaped the completion of the last agreement, as it resumed the extermination of Gaza on March 18.
The Israeli opposition confirms that Netanyahu only wants partial deals that guarantee the continuation of the war, to achieve his personal political interests, especially its continuation of power, in response to the most extreme right -wing wing in his government.
