The Israeli occupation army said, Monday evening, that it intercepted a surface-to-surface missile launched from Yemen towards central Israel. The missile caused sirens to sound in large areas, prompting residents to run in search of shelters.

The army said, in a statement, that after sirens sounded in a number of areas in central Israel, Israeli air defenses successfully intercepted the missile.

Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper confirmed that landing and take-off traffic at Ben Gurion International Airport was halted after sirens sounded in Tel Aviv.

Hebrew media published pictures showing a number of planes on their way to Ben Gurion Airport turning around after the sirens sounded.

A few minutes before that, the army said in a separate statement, “After the alerts that were activated in the center of the country, a “surface-to-surface” missile was detected launched from Yemen, and the details are being verified,” and sirens sounded before that, in dozens of cities and towns in the vicinity of Greater Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. And the occupied West Bank.

Sirens sounded as thousands of Israelis gathered in various areas in the center of the country to commemorate the activities of the first anniversary of October 7, 2023.

The private Israeli Channel 12 broadcast a video clip showing the moment the sirens sounded in Tel Aviv while the families of the Israeli prisoners were preparing a platform to commemorate October 7, 2023 in the center of the city.

Dozens were seen running towards shelters and fortified areas, while others lay on the ground with their hands above their heads in an attempt to take cover.

According to the same channel, the ballistic missile was intercepted from Yemen through the Arrow system, which is designed to intercept long-range missiles.

The Israeli army statement did not specify who fired the missile. Until now, the Yemeni side has not issued a comment on the incident, but in recent weeks the Houthis have repeatedly launched several ballistic missiles towards Israel. She has also repeatedly attacked over the past year, saying that this was in solidarity with the Palestinians.

Today, Monday, marks the first anniversary of the start of Israel, with American support, a genocidal war in Gaza, which to date has resulted in more than 139,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that killed dozens of children and the elderly.

Tel Aviv continues the war of genocide, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution to end it immediately, and the orders of the International Court of Justice to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the miserable humanitarian situation in Gaza.
