The Yemeni Houthi group announced, on Sunday evening, that it had targeted two ships in the Red Sea and Indian Ocean with missiles and a drone boat, for violating the ban on access to Israeli ports imposed by the group.

The Houthi military spokesman, Yahya Saree, said in a statement that the Houthi naval forces carried out an operation to target the “Transworld Navigator” ship in the Red Sea with a drone boat, which led to a direct hit on it, and the “Sequoia Stolt” ship was also targeted in the Indian Ocean with a number of winged missiles. The operation successfully achieved its goals, he said.

Sarie pointed out that the targeting of the two ships came because the companies that owned them violated the decision to ban entry to Israeli ports imposed by the movement, without mentioning the entity that owned the two ships.

The Houthi spokesman warned companies continuing to do business with the Israeli occupation through maritime shipping that their ships would be directly targeted.

Earlier on Sunday, the British Maritime Trade Operations Authority announced the evacuation of the crew of a commercial ship east of Yemen, after launching a distress call due to a water leak.

The Houthi group previously announced, on Saturday evening, that its forces had targeted, with marches, 5 ships in the port of Haifa in northern Israel and the Mediterranean Sea, in conjunction with the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, according to a statement issued by the armed forces affiliated with the Houthis.

Since last November, the Houthi group has been launching attacks on Israeli cargo ships or those associated with them, especially in the Red Sea, with missiles and drones, in solidarity with Gaza, against which Israel has been waging an aggression since October 7, 2023.

In response to these attacks, Washington and London began launching air strikes and missile attacks on Houthi sites in Yemen, but this did not succeed in deterring them, according to experts and analysts.
