A forest worker who was injured in a fire in Izmir Governorate in western Türkiye died of wounds, raising the death toll to 3, While the Minister of Agriculture confirmed the control of fires.

Türkiye escaped the last heat waves that struck the rest of southern Europe, but firefighting elements struggled with more than 600 fires fueled by strong winds during the past week in the country suffering from dryness.

The fire was killed in the Audimis area, about 100 km east of the tourist city of Izmir, on Thursday, with the life of a 81 -year -old bed and a 39 -year -old forest worker.

The Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Ibrahim Yamekli said on the “X” platform that another factor “was injured while combating the fire in Audimis and was receiving treatment in the hospital, had died.”

He added that the Odemis fire was controlled by Friday evening, along with 6 other forest fires, most of which are in western and central Turkey, although firefighters are still trying to control a fire in the southern coastal coastal area in Hatay Governorate.

Violent destruction

In a video clip on the “X” platform, the mayor of Audimis Mustafa Turan said that the fire destroyed about 5,000 hectares of land.

“The fire violently reached this area, and nothing remains to burn. About 5,000 hectares turned into ashes.”

Last Monday, rescuers evacuated more than 50,000 people due to a series of fires.

According to the numbers published on the European system of forest information information information, 96 forest fires in Türkiye erupted so far this year, more than 49,652 hectares of land destroyed.

Experts say that changing climate caused by human activities causes forest fires and other more frequent and intense natural disasters, and they urged Türkiye to take measures to address this problem.
