Regarding the situation in the Palestinian territories, the Ministerial Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council condemned the aggression against Gaza and the West Bank, and announced its support for efforts aimed at a ceasefire in the Strip.
The final statement called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, an end to the siege imposed on the Strip, the release of “hostages” and detainees, and ensuring the delivery of aid to the population.
The extraordinary Gulf meeting stressed the centrality of the Palestinian issue, ending the Israeli occupation, establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, and supporting its sovereignty over all Palestinian territories occupied since June 1967.
