The German Parliament refuses to stop arms exports to Israel News

The German Federal Parliament rejected a proposal submitted by the PSW party to stop arms exports to Israel.

The party’s representative, Savim Dagdalan, confirmed in a late session yesterday, Thursday, that the Israeli attacks on Gaza no longer have anything to do with self-defense.

Dagdalan pointed out that thousands of Palestinian children are at risk of hunger, and that the main responsible for this is the “extremist right-wing government of Benjamin Netanyahu,” which prevents humanitarian aid shipments to Gaza.

She described Parliament’s refusal to impose a freeze on arms sales to Israel as “shameful.”

Referring to reports that the Israeli army used German weapons and that this was a war crime, Dagdalan said, “The German government supplies Israel with weapons and ammunition without conscience. We in the party believe that you must put an end to this collusion.”

For her part, Left Party MP Nicole Goelke supported the proposal, which was presented under the title “No weapons for war in Gaza, stop arms exports to Israel,” and said, “This is collective punishment for tens of thousands of innocent people.”

“We are astonished to see the German government taking one side in this conflict, and cannot sympathize with all the victims of this war who are calling for its end,” Guelke added.

As for the ruling wing, in its speech in Parliament, it renewed its support for Israel, under the pretext that the “PSW” party is playing an “ideological game.”

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a war on the Gaza Strip that has left more than 122,000 dead and wounded, more than 10,000 missing, extensive destruction of infrastructure, and an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.
