The authorities in Albania accused former President Aleer Mita officially – yesterday, Tuesday – of corruption, money laundering, tax smuggling, and hiding property from the authorities, according to his lawyer.
Lawyer Ketim Kakrani told reporters that dead had been informed of the accusations, in a 192 -page report of prosecutors concerned with combating corruption.
The representatives of the prosecution with the Special Authority against Corruption and Organized Crime (Spiak) that undertake issues that include senior politicians or state officials.
“I can hardly wait for the start of the trial that will be public and will reveal to the world that (a plumber) is a doll in the hands of Prime Minister Eddie Rama,” Meta wrote on his Facebook page.
Meta, 56, founder of the Left Freedom Party, was arrested last October.
At that time, the Public Prosecution said that Mita – who took over the presidency of Albania between 2017 and 2022, is an honorary position – was suspended by suspicions of “corruption, money laundering and false declaration of assets.”
The facts related to some of these accusations are due to the period of Mita’s position as Minister of Economy between 2010 and 2011.
The government also made similar accusations by Monica Karimadi (former wife of Mita), who is currently holding a seat in Parliament for the Freedom Party.
According to the Public Prosecution, the investigations of the suspicion of the involvement of Mita and his ex -wife with criminal crimes were carried out in cooperation with several countries, including the United States, Austria and Italy.
It is noteworthy that a prominent opponent of the current Prime Minister Edi Rama, a veteran politician who held several high positions during his career after the fall of the communist regime in 1991 in Albania.
