The European Union and Canada are joining forces to accelerate the ecological transition. This Green Alliance, sealed this Friday during a bilateral summit in St John’s, Newfoundland, must promote economic and ecological cooperation, to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.
“On green issues, we have been aligned with the European Union for so long, knowing that the economy and the environment should not just go hand in hand, but go hand in hand” said Justin Trudeau.
“We see many consequences on our societies in climate change, and we trust in innovation and that is why we are strengthening our ambition to work together, to innovate, to develop more technologies, to solve these difficulties together and these challenges” added Charles Michel, President of the European Council.
Canada and the European Union also reiterated their support for Ukraine. Ottawa announced a donation of more than 11,000 assault rifles and more than 9 million rounds of firearm ammunition.
