The EU warns Israel while Trump’s envoy goes to Europe for the discussions of Truce de Gaza | News Israel-Palestine Conflict

The European Union warned Israel of action for a worsening of famine in Gaza, where the number of Palestinians who died of famine has increased to at least 101.

The warning of the EU foreign policy, Kaja Kallas, came on Tuesday, when the United States said that President Donald Trump’s special envoy would go to Europe for talks on a cease-fire in Gaza this week.

In an article on X, Kallas said that “all the options remain on the table if Israel does not give its promises” to increase humanitarian aid in the besieged enclave.

She also said that the murder of Israel of civilians seeking help to Gaza was “indefensible” and that she had spoken to the Israeli Foreign Affairs Minister Gideon Saar “to recall our understanding on the flow of aid and clearly indicated that (Israeli military) must stop killing people at the distribution points.”

Earlier this month, following an EU meeting to review the relations of the block with Israel for a growing criticism of his war against Gaza, Kallas said that Israel had agreed to improve the humanitarian situation in the enclave.

These included commitments to increase the number of aid trucks, crossing points and tracks to distribution points.

But help officials say that the flow of humanitarian aid in Gaza has not increased despite this agreement.

The United States, on the other hand, said that Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff will go to a European country for talks on a truce, as well as the finalization of a “corridor” for aid for Gaza. He can then go to the Middle East for more discussions, according to the media.

‘Strong Hope’

Axios, a media from the United States, reported that Witkoff will go to the Italian city of Rome on Wednesday and meet the Israeli Minister for Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer and a Qatari envoy on Thursday.

If sufficient progress has been made, Witkoff will go from Rome to the Qatari capital, Doha, towards the end of the week to conclude an agreement, the website reported, citing two American and Israeli sources familiar with details.

The US State Department told journalists that Witkoff was going to the region with “a strong hope that we will offer another cease-fire as well as a humanitarian corridor so that helps flow”.

Spokesperson Tammy Bruce refused to give more details on the corridor.

“I would say that we could have good news, but, once again, as we know, it could be a constantly evolving dynamic,” she said.

Israel cut all the goods of entry into the territory in March, but allowed a aid net from May, mainly through the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation supported by the United States (GHF) and by bypassing the United Nations.

The GHF has set up four distribution points in the South and the center of Gaza, and according to the UN, Israeli forces have killed more than 1,000 Palestinians in search of food aid since the start of its operations in late May.

Most of the victims were killed on or near GHF sites.

The murders arise as the number of hungry people in Gaza also increases, the health authorities reporting 101 deaths since the start of the war, including 80 children.

Most deaths have occurred in recent weeks.

Only Tuesday, the figure was 15, with four children among the victims.

Israel has the responsibility of food shortages in Gaza, while the GHF also rejected what it said is “false and exaggerated statistics” on the killings to its help sites.

Qatar asks for more pressure

The United States, Qatar and Egypt is pushing a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas for months, but a breakthrough has so far escaped them.

The two parties discussed via the mediators an American proposal for a 60 -day truce in which Hamas would further release the Israeli captives it holds in Gaza, while Israel would release Palestinian prisoners and let humanitarian aid enter. During this period, they would also start negotiations on a permanent end of war.

Although there have been minor progress, officials say that Israel and Hamas remain divided to the extent to which Israeli troops would withdraw after any ceasefire will take place.

Qatar called on the United States and the international community to exert more pressure on Israel.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Majed Al-Ansari, told a conference that “the Israeli government does not consider Palestinians as human beings” and that the reckless Israel, not only in Gaza, but also with its attacks against Lebanon, Syria, Yemen and Iran, has endangered security in the Middle East.

“We hope (for cease-fire talks), but the parameters remain. If there is no change in the Israeli directive not to have an agreement and sabotage talks, if there is no serious pressure from the international community, in particular the United States, the parameters of the talks do not change, “he said.

“But we are currently doing, trying to push by using the momentum was created by another mediation that we were making, which is the ceasefire between Iran and Israel to ensure that this momentum helps us to conclude an agreement between the two sides, and we hope to put an end to this terrible chapter in the history of our region,” he added.
