The Emir of Qatar discusses with the British Prime Minister developments in Gaza News

The Emiri Diwan said on Monday that the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, received a call from British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and they discussed developments in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.

Sunak’s office confirmed that the Prime Minister appreciated – during the call – the Qatari efforts regarding the negotiations, noting the importance of reaching an agreement that guarantees the urgent release of prisoners and detainees, the entry of more aid into Gaza, and moving forward towards a permanent and sustainable ceasefire.

He added that Sunak expressed his concern about the repercussions of the widespread military incursion into Rafah, and briefed the Emir of Qatar on Britain’s efforts to ensure the flow of humanitarian aid to the Strip, pointing out that the two sides agreed on the need to continue working with allies to focus on the truce and its importance in terms of regional security.

Sunak’s office praised the work recently undertaken by the State of Qatar to support those who are still facing the devastating consequences of the Russian war in Ukraine, including its efforts to reunite Ukrainian children with their families, stressing that both sides welcome the bilateral trade partnership and defense cooperation between the United Kingdom and Qatar.
