Today, Monday, the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, discussed with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte the developments of the situation in the Gaza Strip, in addition to regional and international issues.
This came during their meeting in The Hague on the second day of a first visit by the Emir of Qatar to the Netherlands, according to the official Qatar News Agency, QNA.
The Amiri Diwan said that during the meeting, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani stressed the firm position of the State of Qatar on the Palestinian issue and the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, especially their right to establish an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital within the two-state solution.
The Emir of Qatar also renewed his emphasis on continuing work on diplomatic mediation paths aimed at stopping the ongoing fighting in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.
For his part, the Dutch Prime Minister expressed his thanks to the Emir of Qatar for his important role as a mediator in the conflict between the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Israel, and his role in the release of the Dutch detainee.
On Sunday, the Emir of Qatar arrived in the city of Amsterdam on an official visit, which the Qatari agency said gave new momentum to relations between the two countries, especially in the economic field.
Qatar, Egypt, and the United States are leading mediation to end the Israeli war on Gaza, and succeeded in approving a temporary truce that lasted for a week until the beginning of last December, and resulted in the exchange of prisoners and detainees between Hamas and Israel, and the introduction of scarce amounts of aid and fuel into the besieged Strip for the 18th year.
Similar efforts by the three countries have not yet resulted in reaching a new truce, despite repeated meetings between Paris, Cairo, and Doha.
Since last October 7, the Israeli occupation army has been waging a devastating war on Gaza with absolute American support, leaving more than 123,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, in addition to thousands of missing people.
Israel continues its war despite two UN Security Council resolutions to stop it immediately, and orders from the International Court of Justice to end the invasion of the city of Rafah, take measures to prevent acts of genocide, and improve the miserable humanitarian situation in Gaza.
