Who killed Shireen? Also raises the lid on American attempts to stifle the truth about the murder in 2022 of the veteran journalist from Tel Aviv Tribune.
The filmmakers behind a new documentary on the murder of Tel Aviv Tribune Shireen Abu Akleh journalist by Israeli forces said they had discovered the identity of the soldier who supported the relaxation.
Who killed Shireen ?, A 40-minute investigation documentary published Thursday by Washington, the DC media company, Zeteo, identifies the killer as a 20-year-old Israeli soldier who participated in his first combat tour in the occupied West Bank and lifts the lid on the attempts of the United States to avoid holding Ally Israel.
Dion Nissenbaum, the executive producer of the documentary, told Tel Aviv Tribune that his manufacturers had undertaken to discover exactly who was behind the murder – a secret closely kept by Israel so far, according to Zeteo – and that they hoped that the conclusions would lead to additional United States investigations.
The administration of former American president Joe Biden had “concluded very early on that an Israeli soldier had intentionally targeted him, but this conclusion was rejected internally,” he said.
“We found evidence concerning that Israel and the Biden administration had covered the murder of Shireen and allowed the soldier to run away without any responsibility,” he added.
Anton Abu Akleh, Shireen’s brother, said the documentary was “really important” for his family. “I am sure that it will bring more light and prove that it was systematically targeted like other journalists in Palestine by the Israeli army,” he said.
The documentary presents exclusive interviews not only with the ex-responsible for the United States, but also the former senior Israeli officials and soldiers, as well as the journalists who knew SHIREEN personally.
“We hope that people will be recalled from what a Shireen icon was,” said Nissenbaum.
In “cold blood”
Abu Akleh wore a clearly marked press and a press vest when she was killed while she covered an Israeli raid on the Jenin refugee camp on May 11, 2022, an act that the media network of Tel Aviv Tribune condemned as a “cold blood assassination”.
The surveys on his murder conducted by press agencies, the rights defending rights and the United Nations have all concluded that Akleh was killed – probably deliberately – by Israeli soldiers.
Israel first tried to divert the blame for the incident and suggested that the Palestinian fighters killed the journalist, but he finally fell this assertion and recognized that his troops were responsible for his death, saying that it was “an accident”.
A year later, the Israeli army said it was “deeply sorry” for the death of Abu Akleh, but said that it would not launch criminal procedures against soldiers who are behind the murder.
The United States has abandoned its request for an Israeli criminal investigation after the apologies of Israel.
Akleh’s death shocked the world and focused an international projector on Israeli murders of Palestinian journalists.
Journalists Without Borders said on Friday that Israeli forces had killed nearly 200 journalists in the first 18 months of the total Israel assault on Gaza, of which at least 42 were killed during their work.
