The director of Al Awda Hospital in North Gaza Governorate, Muhammad Salha, warned yesterday, Thursday, against endangering the lives of patients and medical staff as a result of the Israeli army targeting the hospital and its surroundings.

Salha told Anatolia that Israeli forces fired fire and bombs directly at the hospital and its surroundings, burning nearby homes and endangering the lives of patients and medical staff.

He added that the situation inside the hospital has become extremely dangerous as a result of the ongoing siege and deliberate targeting, and despite this, Al Awda Hospital continues to provide its services under harsh conditions after more than 96 days of siege.

Salha pointed out that the hospital includes 38 patients and their companions, in addition to 63 medical staff, all of whom are besieged and unable to leave the hospital, due to the Israeli Quadcopter drones targeting any movement in the vicinity of the hospital.

He stressed that Al Awda Hospital has become the only medical facility providing services to the residents of the northern Gaza Strip, after the Israeli army took the Kamal Adwan and Indonesian hospitals out of service.

Al Awda Hospital, which is located in the Tal al-Zaatar area (on the outskirts of Jabalia camp), suffers from a severe shortage of medicines, medical supplies, and fuel, which threatens the continued provision of health services, according to Salha.

He said: We currently rely on a small electric generator to operate medical devices for a few hours a day, which limits surgical operations except for life-saving cases.

He appealed to Salha to provide vital medical specialties such as orthopedics and vascular surgery.

He pointed out the failure of international efforts, including those of the World Health Organization, to deliver medical supplies and fuel due to the intransigence of the Israeli occupation and the prevention of the entry of aid.

Hospitals in Gaza are facing a scarcity of fuel needed to operate generators due to power outages, in addition to a shortage of medicines and medical supplies as a result of the lack of sufficient aid.
