The Belgian Deputy Prime Minister announced that her country cannot remain silent regarding the threat launched by Israel of “genocide” in the Gaza Strip, and indicated that she would submit a proposal to her government to join South Africa in filing a lawsuit against Tel Aviv before the International Court of Justice in The Hague.
De Sutter, a representative of the Flemish Green Party in the ruling coalition, said in a statement on the “X” platform that Belgium should not be content with watching the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza without doing anything about it.
She urged support for the lawsuit filed by South Africa before the International Court of Justice, which accuses Israel of committing “genocide” against the Strip.
It is noteworthy that De Sutter had previously expressed the necessity of boycotting Israel due to the aggression against Gaza, as the Israeli army drops bombs like rain on civilians.
At the end of last year, South Africa filed a lawsuit against Israel before the highest court of the United Nations, accusing it of committing genocide in the Gaza Strip. Hearings are scheduled to be held in court on January 11 and 12.
