Arsene Wenger, director of the World Football Association Football Association (FIFA), admitted that the stadiums that are hosting the World Club Cup in the United States are not sufficient quality, but he stressed that they will be in a better condition when the country hosts the 2026 World Cup with Canada and Mexico.
The stadiums, which are often very dry and sprayed with water before the match and during a break between the two halves, were subjected to widespread criticism, especially by the coaches and players of the participating European teams.
“I was personally on the field in Orlando. It was not at the level that European clubs are accustomed to because it is not ideal, but this situation will be corrected in preparation for the World Cup scheduled for next year,” said Wenger, the former Arsenal coach, said today, Saturday.
Paris Saint -Germain coach Luis Enrique raised this issue early in the Club World Cup, which is currently being held with its expanded system for the first time.
“The ball bounces like a rabbit,” Enrique said after his team won 4-0 in the first match against Atletico Madrid.
“For example, the stadium was covered with artificial grass, but now it is covered with natural grass, which means that it should be manually. This is a big problem that affects the way we play.”
“FIFA must deal with this matter seriously. Not only in stadium stadiums, but also training fields. If we consider this the best club championship in the world, it must include global level facilities. I cannot imagine a match in the American Professional Basketball League held on a stadium full of drilling.”
