The Iranian judiciary announced today, Saturday, the arrest of 20 suspects that they are agents of the Israeli intelligence agency (Mossad) over the past few months, confirming dealing with the utmost firmness with the likes of these so that the convicts of them are a lesson to others.
A spokesman for the judiciary, the youngest Jahangir, told reporters in Tehran today that the charges against some of the twenty suspects were dropped and released, without mentioning their number specifically.
“The judiciary will not show any negligence towards spies and agents of the Zionist regime. It will make all convicts a lesson by issuing deterrent rulings,” Iranian media quoted Jahangir as saying.
He explained that he will announce the full details as soon as the investigations are completed.
Execution of a nuclear world
On Wednesday, official media reported that Iran executed a nuclear world called Rospe Wadi, who was convicted of spying for Israel and conveying information about another nuclear scientist who was killed in Israeli air strikes on Iran last June.
The executions of the Iranians convicted of spying in favor of Israel have increased significantly this year, as at least eight death sentences have been carried out in the past few months.
For 12 days in June, Israel launched air strikes on Iran targeting senior military leaders, nuclear scientists, nuclear facilities and residential neighborhoods. Iran responded with a barrage of missiles and aircraft driving on Israel.
The Human Rights Activists (Herna) news agency reported that 1190 Iranians were killed during the Israeli attacks, including 436 civilians and 435 security personnel, while Israel said 28 people were killed in Iran’s attacks to respond to this.
