Yesterday, Saturday, the Sudanese army confronted anti -aircraft missiles with marches that were stuck in the atmosphere of Port Sudan, according to eyewitnesses.

Port Sudan, the temporary capital, last month, was subjected to the first drone attack whose responsibility was held by the Rapid Support Forces.

The raids of the drones targeted infrastructure, including the last international civilian airport in the country, power plants and fuel warehouses.

The almost daily raids stopped for more than a week until yesterday, Saturday, when eyewitnesses reported to the French Press Agency to hear “the anti -aircraft missiles north and west of the city and the flight of drones in the sky.”

Since the Sudanese army withdrew from the capital, Khartoum, at the beginning of the war, Port Sudan has hosted government ministries, international agencies and hundreds of thousands of people, and turned into a temporary capital of Sudan in the time of war, and formed a haven for the displaced.

And through Port Sudan, almost all aid passes to the country where about 25 million people suffer from severe food insecurity.

Since its loss, Khartoum’s control of last March, the Rapid Support Forces have adopted a two -term strategy: long -range raids with drones on the army -controlled cities accompanied by anti -land attacks in the south of the country.

The raids affected the infrastructure throughout northeastern Sudan, which is controlled by the army, and the attacks on power stations caused power outages from millions of people.

The power outages in Khartoum also led to clean water, according to health authorities, causing the cholera epidemic that killed about 300 people this month.

On Friday, 6 Sudanese were killed and 12 others were injured as a result of the shelling of the Rapid Support Forces, two hospitals and residential neighborhoods in the city of Abyad, in the state of North Kordofan, central Sudan, according to a military source, while Khartoum’s doctors are making efforts to contain cholera outbreaks in the capital.

A Sudanese military source announced to Al -Jazeera yesterday, Saturday, that the army regained control of the Umm Samima area, west of the city of Al -Abyad, the capital of the state of North Kordofan. On Friday, the Rapid Support Forces announced their control of the Umm Samima area and other areas.

Last February, the Sudanese army broke a siege imposed by the Rapid Support Forces for about two years on the city of Al -Abyad, at a strategic intersection linking Khartoum (400 km) to the west of the country.

In recent weeks, fighters of the Rapid Support Forces intensified their attacks on El Fasher, which is the last major city in Darfur, the army still controlled.

Since April 2023, Sudan has witnessed bloody war between the army led by Abdel -Fattah al -Burhan, and the Rapid Support Forces led by its former deputy, Muhammad Hamdan Daklu, nicknamed “Hamidati”.
