Yesterday, Friday, the Arab League condemned the Israeli attack on Iran, and called for the necessity of stopping it and intensifying regional and international efforts to reduce tension, leading to a comprehensive ceasefire and regional calm.
According to the closing statement of an emergency meeting of the foreign ministers of the Arab countries, held in Istanbul yesterday, Friday, headed by Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Al -Safadi, the ministers considered that “the Israeli aggression against Iran constitutes a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of a member state of the United Nations, and a threat to peace and regional security.”
The meeting stressed “the necessity of stopping the aggression, returning to negotiations to reach an agreement on the Iranian nuclear file and supporting calm efforts.”
The ministers called on the international community, especially the Security Council, to “carry out its responsibilities to stop the Israeli aggression, and the clear violation of international law and the threat of the security of the region.”
They saw that diplomacy and dialogue are the only way to resolve crises, according to the United Nations Charter and International Law.
The statement stressed that “the comprehensive calm will only be achieved by addressing all causes of conflict and tension, starting with the cessation of the Israeli aggression on Gaza, the introduction of humanitarian aid immediately, sufficient and sustainable through the United Nations organizations, and the suspension of illegal Israeli measures in the West Bank, which undermine the two -state solution.”
The Arab ministers warned that “Israel pushes the region towards more conflict and tension, demanding an active international action to stop Israeli aggressive policies and work to achieve fair peace, implement international legitimacy decisions, and the Arab Peace Initiative for the year 2002”.
The statement stressed the necessity of respecting freedom of navigation in the international corridors, warning of the repercussions of its targeting on the global economy and energy security.
He called for the condemnation of any breach of the atmosphere of the countries of the region from any party, and to refrain from targeting the nuclear facilities subject to the guarantees of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The Arab foreign ministers warned of the dangers of nuclear emissions and their leakage, and the devastating human and environmental effects, and called for the Middle East to evacuate nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction, based on the United Nations resolutions, the decisions of the previous Arab summits, the last of which is the Baghdad Summit in May 2025.
They also stressed the need for all countries of the region to join the treaty not to spread nuclear weapons.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, whose work will be launched on Saturday in Istanbul, headed by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and will last for two days.
This comes at a time when Israel has launched since June 13, with American support, a massive attack on Iran targeting nuclear facilities, missile bases, military leaders and nuclear scientists.
